Hi my name is Maheen and I am an Engineering student at QMUL. I have been teaching at Kumon for the last four years, interacting with children and narrowing down where they struggle with a topic the most, in order to help them feel more confident in their own answers. Due to this experience I am able to understand that each individual thinks differently and may require help in certain areas of subjects than others, so lessons will be personalised to every student. I know that it can be challenging and nerve racking doing exam practice as I’ve been through it myself but I think doing constant practice of exam questions and reviewing topics enables you to remain calmer and be more concise in the real exams. Science has always been a passion of mine and I wish to share that with students so they can also achieve their goals.

Hi, I’m Folaju and I’m an aspiring medic, studying at King’s College London – I’ve decided to become a tutor to help provide the invaluable services that I would have definitely benefitted from at prior stages in my journey through education.
I achieved 5 9s, 4 8s and 2 7s at GCSE and went on to study Biology, Chemistry, Physics and English Literature at AS-Level, taking Biology, Chemistry and Physics forward to A-Level.
Having been a part of a Combined Cadet Force over five years, rising to a high-ranked position, I gained much experience in teaching to new generations of cadets, through which I was also able to learn both about how to teach as well as how different people learn differently. I love to create as calm and stress-free learning environment as possible in order to prioritise progress and make learning enjoyable.

I am a medical student entering my second year at The Queens College Oxford. I achieved 4 A*s at A level in Biology, Chemistry, Physics and Mathematics. I have 10 A*s at GCSE.

I was in the top decile for my UCAT exam and achieved band 1 in the SJT. For the BMAT I scored 6.6 in section 1, 6 in section 2 and 3.5A in the essay. To contextualise these results I have included the following analysis of my cohort:
“In the 2021 BMAT, just over 30% of students scored between 5.0 and 6.0 in Section 1, with around 5% scoring higher than 6.0. In Section 2, around 25% of students scored between 5.0 and 6.0, with around 5% scoring higher than 6.0. In Section 3, around 40% of students got a 3 for quality of content and just over 20% scored higher than a 3. For quality of English, nearly 80% scored an A.”

Interviewing at Oxford, St Andrews and Kings College London, I will be able to draw on experiences with different interview styles. Over the past year I have also had lots of experience with the tutorial system at Oxford. This will be beneficial in helping others to prepare for interviews.

I have volunteered for four years in a youth club, spent time volunteering for a charity for the disabled during the pandemic as well as tutoring GCSE maths. I currently hold positions in 3 college societies as well as playing rugby for the university team. These roles have allowed me to develop excellent communication skills, as well as improving my organisational ability.

Hi there! I’m Tim, a final year undergraduate studying at New College at the University of Oxford. I’ve been a tutor for about three years now, helping students with admissions tests, personal statements and interview preparation for Oxbridge as well as other universities in the UK and USA. I also regularly tutor A-level and GCSE subjects, working to help students smash their mocks and real exams to enable them to go to their preferred university.

I am on track for a first class degree, and received 4 A* grades at A-level in Maths, Further Maths, History and Physics. In addition, I obtained 13 A*/9 grades at GCSE level, and got full marks on my EPQ. During my university application cycle, I received offers from every university I applied to, from Oxford, LSE, UCL and Warwick.

My previous experience tutoring has been in partnership with UniAdmissions, Horizons Tutoring and privately. In addition, I carried out volunteer mentoring/coaching with Zero Gravity and Project Access. During my time in school, I regularly tutored those in younger years in subjects such as maths and physics. My past tutees have gone on to receive offers from Oxford, LSE, UCL and even as far afield as the University of Chicago.
