Hello,

I’m Alex Rodway. I graduated from Jesus College, Oxford University in June 2023 with an integrated undergraduate and master’s degree in biology.

I achieved 4 A*s at A-level and 12 A*s at GCSE.

I have a lot of experience tutoring at GCSE and A-level standard in science, maths and language subjects. I am bilingual in English and French. I have also tutored students for Oxbridge interviews, with two students successfully achieving places at Oxford and Cambridge for biology and natural sciences, respectively.

At University, I founded and acted as the president of a podcast society called OxPods (https://linktr.ee/oxpods). This involved students interviewing professors on niche aspects of their chosen subject in an accessible way to the wider public. One of the main purposes of this was in access – it gives prospective Oxbridge applicants a taste of what education at the University is actually like, and aims to help them prepare for entrance exams and interviews. It also aimed to provide a platform to allow students that may not otherwise have access to such high-level research, the opportunity to consume information in an easily digestible way.

This helped develop my skills in communication, simplifying information, organisation, and understanding the thought processes of Oxford professors, which is of vital importance for entrance interviews.

Hello! I’m Lauren and I’m in my final year of studying Spanish and Russian at the University of Oxford. Outside of academia, I like to stay active, playing rugby for Oxford’s first team. I enjoy travelling and immersing myself in other cultures, which I did a lot of on my year abroad: I have lived and worked in Russia, Colombia, Cuba, and Spain, and I am planning to go to Kazakhstan next! Living in foreign countries (often on my own) has made me an outgoing, enthusiastic, and proactive person. It was a very different experience to living on the farm I grew up on in coastal Wales!
I’ve had such a positive experience studying and living in Oxford, and I am excited to share what I have learned with others who are aspiring to study here too. I am happy to give advice on personal statements, interviews, or admissions tests.

I am a recent biology graduate from the University of Oxford and have been teaching for the last 5 years. Having studied and lived in a number of countries, including the UK, New Zealand, and Finland, I approach life and learning with an open mind. I studied GCSEs and A-levels (Spanish, Chemistry, Biology, and EPQ) at a grammar school in the UK, as well as NCEA level 3 at a school in New Zealand.
I love nature, the outdoors, languages, and problem-solving – which works well for me as a Biologist exploring tropical ecology with conservation and sustainability. In October I begin my Masters by research at Oxford, which will involve the interdisciplinary integration of Biology, Mathematics, Economics, and Politics in investigating illegal wildlife trade. From explorations of DNA in laboratories of Oxford, to coral reef restoration projects in South East Asia, my scientific approach has taken me all over the world. Outside of Biology, I also have a passion for sports, literature, and languages. I speak Finnish and Spanish, and you will often find me doing adventure sports such as rock climbing and kayaking.
